Your Challenge

• Welding of parts such as pressure vessels, cyclones, piping, etc ;
• Mainly GMAW welding. GTAW, electrode (SMAW) and submerged arc (SAW) available ;
• Welding in any position (6G) ;
• Welding in rotation, on positioner ;
• Gouging to prepare welding joints ;
• Reading and understanding blueprints ;
• Safe operation of an overhead crane ;
• Pass non-destructive quality control tests according to customer specifications ;
• Maintain your welding machine ;
• Working at heights and in confined spaces ;

We work with mild steel and stainless steel as well as exotic alloys (e.g. chromoly).

Qualifications required

Your Challenge

• Read and interpret welding plans and symbols ;
• Drill, grind, cut with plasma or oxyacetylene flashlight ;
• Make templates ;
• Trace to position parts, openings, cut lines for lengths and chamfers of parts, etc. ;
• Make the required calculations (circumference, diameter, etc.) ;
• Position parts using jigs, jacks, lag screws, clamps, supports, etc. ;
• Use overhead crane and hoist to move, turn and position parts safely ;
• Select appropriate welding equipment and filler wire according to welding procedure ;
• Follow assembly, inspection, welding sequences, etc ;
• Verify positioning, dimensions and squareness of parts before welding ;
• Perform a pressure test and/or hydrostatic test when required ;
• Working at heights and in confined spaces ;
• Maintain a clean and safe work area at all times ;

Qualifications required 

• DEC in mechanical engineering or other training deemed equivalent ;
• In-depth knowledge of welding techniques (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, SAW) ;
• Mastery of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and inspection tools ;
• Minimum 3 years' relevant experience in quality control ;
• Experience in a custom manufacturing plant ;
• Knowledge of Canadian and international standards (CSA, ASME, API, ISO) ;
• Problem-solving and critical analysis skills ;
• Bilingualism - English and French (required to communicate with customer inspectors) ;
• Knowledge of Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).

• Perform general maintenance work, such as yard and machinery maintenance ;
• Perform sandblast cleaning on complex parts on occasion ;
