Production Supervisor
Reporting to the VP – Director of Production, the Production Supervisor is responsible for managing production operations, overseeing human resources, health and safety, and continuous improvement projects within their department, which includes approximately thirty employees. To achieve this, the incumbent performs the following tasks:
Supervision of production
- Plan, organize, and direct the work of a team primarily composed of welders and laborers.
- Conduct floor inspections, monitor work progress, and participate in problem-solving.
- Ensure employees meet organizational expectations regarding productivity, quality, and achievement of objectives (KPIs).
Human Resources Management
- Onboarding and Integration: Carry out activities in compliance with the company’s onboarding and integration process.
- Performance Evaluation: Complete evaluation forms and present them to employees in accordance with company procedures. Ensure proper execution of skill development activities for team members.
- Communication: Lead regular team meetings to keep employees informed.
- Engagement: Foster employee engagement toward common goals by creating a healthy, pleasant, and productive work environment.
- Feedback: Provide effective performance feedback through employee recognition or appropriate disciplinary measures, with HR support when necessary.
- Corporate Culture: Promote and embody the company culture across departments, emphasizing its mission, vision, and values.
- Administrative Activities: Perform all administrative tasks (timesheets, leave requests, etc.).
Health, safety and environment management
- Act as a leader in Health, Safety and Environment by ensuring :
- Compliance and enforcement of Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures,
- by acting proactively in identifying potential risks
- by raising employee awareness,
- Etc.
Management of continuous improvement projects
- Develop strategies to improve communication and optimize productivity using best-practice tools (Lean, 5S, etc.) in collaboration with the Director of Production.
- Participate in multidisciplinary working committees to implement sustainable solutions.
Required Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in production management within a manufacturing environment;
- College or university degree in management or engineering; vocational diploma in welding or other relevant disciplines;
- Training in health and safety, quality, and continuous improvement considered an asset.
